Event / January 15, 2020

The Nevada Division of Water Resources has announced the schedule for workshops on the Humboldt River Basin water modeling studies.  These meetings include sessions in Lovelock and Winnemucca on January 14:

  • 9:30 a.m. at the Lovelock City Hall, 400 14th Street, City Council Meeting Room, Lovelock, Nev.
  •  2 p.m. at the Humboldt County Cooperative Extension Building, 1085 Fairgrounds Road., Winnemucca, Nev.

The January 15th meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Nannini Administration Building, County Commissioner Chambers, 540 Court St., Elko, Nev.

This is an annual update of the Humboldt River Basin water modeling studies being conducted by the U.S. Geological Survey and the Desert Research Institute.  When the models have been completed and found to be in working order, the anticipation is to use the system to determine the degree of impact that groundwater pumping along the Humboldt River is having on surface flows and available water to meet the obligations of senior water rights from the river.
