Showcase Your Ag Knowledge at the YF&R Discussion Meet in Winnemucca

News & Media / October 1, 2025

Are you ready to test your communication skills, deepen your knowledge of agriculture, and engage with other passionate young ag leaders? The Young Farmers & Ranchers (YF&R) Discussion Meet is your opportunity to do just that—and we want YOU to compete!

Hosted each year at the Nevada Farm Bureau Annual Meeting, the YF&R Discussion Meet is a dynamic event that simulates a committee meeting. Participants actively discuss important agricultural topics and are judged on their ability to engage, collaborate, and offer meaningful solutions.

This isn’t a debate—it’s about building consensus and showing how agricultural leaders can come together to solve real-world issues.

Who Can Compete?

Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 35 to compete in the Discussion Meet.

Why Compete?

  • Sharpen your public speaking and discussion skills
  • Explore current ag issues and policy challenges
  • Network with fellow young professionals
  • Represent Nevada on the national stage!

Cash Prizes:

  • 1st Place: $500
  • 2nd Place: $300
  • 3rd Place: $150
  • 4th Place: $50

The Nevada state winner will advance to compete at the national level—either the American Farm Bureau Federation Discussion Meet or the Collegiate Discussion Meet, depending on eligibility.
