Are you ready to put your agricultural knowledge to the test, share your ideas, and compete for cash prizes and a custom belt buckle?
Nevada Farm Bureau is looking for young farmers, ranchers, and agricultural leaders to participate in the 2026 Young Farmers & Ranchers (YF&R) Discussion Meet, held during the 107th Nevada Farm Bureau Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, November 11–13, 2026.
And this year, there is even more on the line!
Participants will have the opportunity to compete for:
🥇 1st Place — $500 + Custom Belt Buckle
🥈 2nd Place — $300
🥉 3rd Place — $150
🏅 4th Place — $50
The state winner will also have the opportunity to represent Nevada at the national level!
If you have never competed before, don’t let the name intimidate you. The Discussion Meet is not a debate.
Instead, it is designed to simulate a committee meeting where competitors discuss an important agricultural issue, share ideas, listen to different perspectives, identify possible solutions, and work toward common ground.
Competitors are evaluated on their knowledge of the topic, communication skills, ability to engage with the other participants, and contributions to the overall discussion.
You don’t have to have all the answers. In fact, that’s part of the challenge! The goal is to demonstrate how well you can think, communicate, listen, and work with others to find solutions.
The YF&R program is open to Farm Bureau members ages 18–35.
You don’t have to own a large farm or ranch to participate. Whether you farm, ranch, work in agriculture, are involved in an agricultural business, or simply care about the future of Nevada agriculture, we encourage you to get involved.
We would especially love to see young agricultural leaders from counties across Nevada represented at the table.
One of the best parts about the Discussion Meet is that you can prepare ahead of time. The official questions are released in advance, giving competitors plenty of opportunity to research the issues and think through potential solutions.
This year’s topics focus on issues that are highly relevant to agriculture and rural communities:

Put Your Ag Knowledge to the Test at the YF&R Discussion Meet
Yes, there are some great prizes, but the Discussion Meet is about much more than winning.
It’s an opportunity to strengthen your public speaking and leadership skills, learn more about issues affecting agriculture, meet other young farmers and ranchers, build connections across Nevada, and become more involved in Farm Bureau.
And remember: you do not have to be an expert to compete.
Come prepared to have a conversation, share what you know, listen to others, and bring your ideas to the table.
Nevada agriculture needs the next generation of leaders involved, and the Discussion Meet is one of the best ways to get started.
Registration for the Nevada Farm Bureau Annual Meeting is open now, and we encourage YF&R members from across the state to sign up, start researching the questions, and get ready to compete in Las Vegas.
You could leave the Annual Meeting with $500, a custom Nevada championship belt buckle, and the opportunity to represent Nevada on the national stage.
Think you’ve got what it takes? Step up to the table, we would love to have you compete!
